INTRODUCTION - PHILOSOPHY
Whether for Little Athletics or Senior Athletics ,
Sprinting and Hurdling must be taught, " CORRECTLY - the first time "
When Coaching Little Athletes , great care must be taken not to over manipulate your child. Just because various athletes may have different mechanisms, the Coach must be very careful not to throw out a deemed "fault" but instead must assess whether this apparent fault, is in fact a Gem for a particular athlete. A) WHEN COACHING HURDLES TECHNIQUE : The overall target is to see that the hips move fluently across the bar. B) WHEN COACHING SPRINTING TECHNIQUE: The overall target is to get the athlete consistently through, The Acceleration Phase, Top Speed Phase, & The Final Holding Phase . There are literally thousands of biomechanical components to be fitted together like a Jig-Saw Puzzle and it does take The " Eye of a Master Coach" to perfect this transition: FOR PARENTS: GREAT CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO KEEP LITTLE ATHLETES WANTING TO COME TO TRAINING AND NOT FEELING AS THOUGH THEY ARE PRESSURED AT ANY STAGE DURING THEIR LEARNING.
